Role Description
As a member of the Carbon Markets team at Ahya, you shall be supporting research, data analysis, and project implementation in the voluntary carbon markets space. You will contribute to assessing carbon offset opportunities, evaluating project quality, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in climate solutions and carbon market dynamics while working in a collaborative environment.
Key skills for success
- Research emerging trends in carbon markets, climate policy, and GHG accounting.
- Work with the Product and Engineering teams to ensure compliance with standards for Tawazun.
- Assist in evaluating carbon offset projects, including due diligence and forecasting.
- Support the preparation of Project Design Documents (PDDs) and Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) for projects under Verra, Gold Standard, and other certification standards.
- Collaborate on drafting policy guidelines and research frameworks related to carbon markets.
- Prepare presentations, memos, and reports on carbon offsetting strategies for internal and client use.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in the voluntary carbon markets and climate solutions.
- Basic understanding of carbon credit certification standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard).
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel.
- Good communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
